        Be quick.
That's not a bad deal for excellent non-plinking ammo.
I bought 300 rds for $175 shipped! No way Im spending almost $1 a round.

Ranger is good stuff. It isn't FMJ useless HD/hunting ammo. This stuff isn't for plinking.

Too bad it's 223. If it was 5.56 I would pick up some for SHTF.

Guess I'll keep looking for Federal / LC XM855

If gas was 12 bucks a gallon you'd still buy it....gimme a break. Buy it or don't.

Why would you want XM855 for SHTF? Plan on everyone wearing body armor? You internet cowboys are funny.

You missed the front part of XM855....FEDERAL LC
                    Mil Spec stuff

And my 1:7 barrel is made for a heavier projectile and pre-panic is best bang for the buck in bulk box

Read carefully before you put people down.

Milspec ammo is about the worst type of ammo you can use for actually killing animals (four legged or two). Militaries use that ammo because they have to by convention, not because it is what works best.

BTW your 1:7 barrel is made for a long, light projectile, such as M196.

                        Agreed.
There are advantages to milspec ammo such as annealing, top quality brass, sealed primers, and proven-stable powders (which Ranger ammo may also have, I know TAP uses unsealed primers), but the bullet itself is doing the nasty work. A soft point or a ballistic tip is going to have a distinct advantage over the penetrator rounds.
1:7 twists have excellent results with a pretty wide range of bullets.
Many units are now being issued OTM because of the shortfalls of the M855. The jury is still out.

How much was this load pre-panic? I know in today's market $1.50 for HD/Tactical load is not bad, but just wanted to know what this cost say a year ago.

                              Thanks.

Finding the FBI load is the hard part. Then you pay whatever it takes. I know guys that would pay $50 a box for it. It's accuracy past 50 yards isn't amazing but the terminal ballistics are spoken highly of by the most respected authorities like Dr. Robert.
