    Affordable .338 Lapua Magnum

Are there any sub 1.5K rifles avalable in .338 Lapua Magnum, ive looked at uppers for an AR and found Bohica to be the cheapist. What is the market price for a ar-30 in .338?

There is a several month wait for an AR-30, so the price will be close to MSRP.

As uclaplinker said, Remington just came out with a .338LM but I haven't read any reports and there are people that think that the Remington action is not suitable for .338LM.

If you think that the rifles are expensive, take a good look at the ammo and reloading components prices before you commit. .338 LM is not a cheap round to shoot.

Check the link UCLA gave. I linked to a post at SH with info on the rifle and accuracy.

338 seems to be one of those rounds that requires reloading or else the rifle could become a safe queen. it'll definitely add up over the long run.

Thank you for the link. I did read that a while back, but the group was at 100 yards so while the rifle has potential I would still like to see results for 600 yards and up (and more than one).
Nevertheless, it seems like a heck of a buy.

If you reload, you will be able to get it down around 1 buck per round. Factory ammunition is 4-6 bucks per round. Don't forget to take this into account before you buy the rifle.

You can probably buy reloads from Ben (mrkubota) at a very reasonable price.

For those who does not own one or shot one, let tell you that it is just cool to hit a pumkin at 1000m and watch it explode. Every rifle has its purpose, why not own several to fit several needs.

I did put myself on the pre-order list with SCPX, but if anyone else knows where I can purchase the Remington 338, I'm all ears. Please PM me.

When I first saw this a while back I thought it was funny, then I got the .338LM.

I'm waiting for the 338 RUM to come out in something like a Remington PSS or similar heavy barrel configuration.

I reload for two 338 LMs - an AR 30 and an HS Precision take down model. It's easy to reload and a great round, but I really don't see any great advantage over the 338 RUM. I don't mind spending a few extra bucks on start up costs, I have a 416 Rigby and the brass is at least as expensive as its 338 LM little brother, but given a choice I'd go for the plain old RUM instead.
