    Upper for Noveske N-6 Lower

I like that new N-6 lower from Noveske for a .308 build.

If you were looking at the N-6 build for a CQB/urban environment, what upper would you buy?

    CQB with .308?

I'd build an AR-15. 308 is heavy. Ammo is heavy and bulky, too.

I agree with uclaplinker, but if you really must have one then 16" barrel.

You live in Riverside, so A Place to Shoot is within your reach. That's a big place. Angeles is big, too. Why not build a 308 that can reach out and touch something?

The smallest you can do is a 16" build that includes the permanently attached muzzle device... like a 13.7" with KX3 hider permanently attached, a 14.5" with SEI Vortex, etc.

16" is the most practical, as you don't need to permanently attach.

The Knight's stuff is a nice place to look for ideas...

Their 16" carbine with URX and SOPMOD is sexy as hell. I want a 20" build, but that config is just downright hot. I really like the DuraCoat job on the lower 20"... I've been thinking I'll build a clone of that with mine.

Or something in Noveske, but it is pricey:

I'm thinking somewhere along the same lines. I want something similar to the SR-25 20" civilian version for use at Angeles. Pricey is ok, ridiculously pricey I want to avoid

What's the weight difference between your typical AR10 variant and AR15 variant?

The reason I posted originally is because I'd like something a little more - authoritative - than the .223, but I'm not against being corrected.

BTW, those Noveske uppers are like $1,200. Are all .308 uppers that expensive, or are they worth it, or what?

Anythig in .308 will cost more than 5.56 because the production runs are smaller and less manufacturers produce them. And yes, Noveske uppers are considered to be very good. If you want to go high end and want to save a little, buy a barrel and build an upper yourself. Or Randall of AR15barrels.com might help you out, as mentioned before.

BTW, if you don't have an AR-15, I would go with that first before you get into a .308. You can always get a 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC. .458 Socom or .50 Beowulf upper for it later.

308 ammo also costs about 30-50% more than .223

All right, you've convinced me! So, are you all saying that I can throw 458 SOCOM into an AR15, and it'll just work without modification?

Your patience with newbies is awe-inspiring!

EDIT: Never mind, I'm stupid. You have to buy a new upper, but everything else is GTG, right?

You got it! Be prepared to pay more for .458 ammo or reloading components for the .458.
