Think of buying a Bushmaster Adaptive ACR... thoughts please

So I really want to pick one up and I really like the look of it. I have a few questions about purchasing from Gunbroker. Once I purchase the rifle and make my payment what FFL here in Los Angeles will accept the rifle or should I mail a BB for the rifle to the person the I'm buying the rifle from and have him/her install it? Also where would I get a BB for an ACR?

Radd and assault planet iirc both make mag locks. If the rifle comes into state in aw form (no maglock w evil features) the receiving ffl needs a AW permit.

If you are buying a folding stock model it will need to be pinned before entering the state as well, otherwise it will be under the 30in minimum.

The ACR is a great rifle btw, if you can't get your hands on the SCAR

It's more front-heavy than I would have liked. I thought it looked really cool and I definitely wanted to buy one.... Until I held one in my hands. Awkward balancing and nose-heavy characteristics.

That said, I would still love to own one.... just not for what they're selling for these days. :P

Don't mean to thread jack, but

What company usually convert the ACR and SCAR to be California compliant and ready to ship to a local FFL? Does Atlantic firearm do it? Maybe SCGusa.com?

Granted they probably have none in stock now, but say in 3 months maybe I can start calling.

I think Riflegear does the conversations.

I repeat, your FFL cannot receive it if it is not Ca compliant and they do not have an AW permit.
Call your FFL and find out.

As far as I know, they CAN be received by an FFL without AW permit if they are disassembled (IE separated upper/lower). I know that's how I got my CX4 Storm. The bullet button and butt pad spacer was installed on-site after arrival disassembled.

And on topic I would think EBR Works would accept it.. pretty sure he has the right papers to take in stuff like that.

Not unless your getting a great deal on it, I would just wait til possibly this panic dies down to even start looking for an ACR, SCAR, etc....

While I like my ACR... with the prices I've seen them lately, especially on gunbroker I dont know if I can recommend someone buying one for those prices. Big selling point was that it was suppose to be able to be "adaptive", shoot multiple calibers with a quick barrel and bolt change but that hasnt materialized to this day.

I saw one end today in a FDE for $2700 on Gunbroker. I don't mind paying over $200 from MSRP but I also want to wait to see if RiffleGear gets some in stock.

I would love to get an ACR or SCAR in 5.56. Seems like people like the SCAR 16 over the ACR.

Can anyone who shot both and / or able to run the guns a bit chime in on which they prefer and why? And maybe perhaps address the issues of the non-chorme lined 1:9 twist barrel and front end heavy of the ACR?

Or should I just wait till I can find a SCAR 16? A local store had a ACR Enhanced (with railed handguard) for about $2700. Do it?!?!?!

                              Thanks.
