        Same here...
        That's why I'm currently building a DPMS LR308/SR25.

Terrible if you build from a scratch now. Parts, bcg, upper, etc...

If you are okay to wait, buy a stripped lower now and build it as the parts become more reasonably priced. For my build, I went with a PSA flattop upper with a 20" barrel, A2 stock, and detachable carry handle because I wanted an M16 clone. I also have an M4 clone with the telescoping stock. Go to the range and talk to the people who have ARs and see if they will let you hold it or better yet shoot it. That way you can find out what you like best and go from there.

What scares me about these home builds, or even something I build myself, is this is an item that can blow up in your face?
That looks like a nice basic A2 rifle. 20" barrel, non-removable carry handle...very 80's, I like it, too. I guess that's what it comes down to with MSRs---get whatever you like! If you decide you want it to look different later just change it to your liking.

I tried to post this before, but it disappeared. Think I may have hit the wrong button.

Anyway, I wanted to piggyback on this post since I'm asking a similar question to what's been brought up here so far. If you already have a lower receiver with a parts kit and stock installed, what remaining parts do you need to go shopping for? Obviously I know this is the "upper," but let's say I find a "stripped upper receiver" somewhere and pick that up. What does that stripped receiver lack that a complete upper receiver has? Does it just need a barrel, a bolt assembly group, and a charging handle, or does it need some kind of small-parts kits like you see with a lower parts kit?

It's a little known fact that the phrase "Molon Labe" is in fact ancient Greek for "Suck it, Dianne Feinstein."
