A2 Optics

Does anyone here use any type of optics on their A2 uppers?
I like shooting iron sights and plan on keeping it that way, but my fiance likes optics and I was wondering if there were any good/cheap set ups?

I am considering this for her because she suprised me with a butstock and some .223 ammo today

If you put a scope on an A2 it ends up HIGH. You'll need a cheekrest.

You can also co-witness a red-dot using a z-mount.

Now remove one hand from the process, while leaving the other hand clapping.

Get an acog, they'll mount right into that carry handle nice and pretty. They are pricey though. You could also get the bushnell or barska version of the acog in a non-magnified dot site for cheap.

IMHO, if you want to put optics on your AR, then change out your upper receiver to a flat top first.

I have a Hensoldt ZF24 on an ARMS #2 (?) on my Colt R6500 clone.
Works great, yes cheek weld is awful, (or rather chinweld), but it works just fine.

Hey, when she brings me a brand new buttstock and a thousand rounds of ammo I think I will throw her a bone. The z-mount and a red dot is looking like a good deal.
