Remington 700 MLR - 338 Lapua

I have an older Remington 700 MLR in 338 Lapua Magnum. The muzzle brake isn't all that effective and I'd like to switch it out for something else.

Has anyone done the same for this rifle and have any recommendations? I'm interested in the Badget FTE, obviously the exit hole would have to be opened up. The Badger uses standard AR 10 threading, does anyone know the threading used by Remington?

Also, I'm told the factory brake is a real PITA to remove, very tight - has anyone removed one on their own?

Im wondering about this as well. I have not fired my Lapua just yet but Im really wondering how effective the brake is.

The Remington should have 5/8-24 threads, but the barrel will need a journal turned in it for the brake to clamp to.
The badger FTE is not a do-it-yourself option.
At the same time the journal is turned, its easy to open up the brake to clear the 338 bullets too...
