    It shot great!!

A month or so ago I posted my M4gery that was built from scratch just by reading posts and look at what you folks were doing. No pic's from today so it didn't happen, no sighting or anything...just the first 80 rounds. Wow!!! Less recoil than my CZ 75 .40 and smooth as silk. Given the price of ammo now, I'm not going to get crazy. Specs; Stag lower and LPK, Windham 16" heavy upper, BCM BCG and CH. Lots of toys...AC2 red/green dot, 200 lumen tac light w/ red laser, vertical foregrip with tape switch, BUIS on the 45...some other stuff. It is heavy...just is. I built it the way I wanted and that's how it came out...but it really rocks!!! Thanks for all the ideas and posts that made it happen!!

Congrats! Now where are the pix? Also why do you have off set sights with a red dot?

It is considered Calguns sacrilege to talk about a firearm and not post at least one picture.

I'm not sure what you mean by something might break. The purpose of off set sights is so you can transition to them when you are using a magnified optic, which you cannot cowitness with. Since you have a red dot you can cowitness irons which negates the purpose of off set irons. But hey, its your gun as long as you like it, who cares!

I hear ya. BUIS are for CQC. This gun has a ton of redundincy...guess the Navy taught me that. It does need to be paired down, but for my first build there were a lot of lessons learned about quality, fit and usability. The entire point of this build was to avoid the "what parts should I use" posts and learn from what was already out there. Now I have enough stuff for another build! Thanks for the ideas...they will be used. I read and re-read you thoughts and they make great sense!

5x5, I think you are missing mr plinks point. When running a non magnified optic like a rds or halographic, there is no need to offset them. You can use them as normal on top of the rifle even if the optic fails. If you had a magnified optic then yes, to have immediate buis in play, you'd need to offset.
              Anyway congrats and have fun!!
