45° mount and zeroing question
Tags: None -
Interesting question...Is there a reason the trajectory and zero would be different? The bullet doesn't care if the barrel is rotated 45, or 90, or ____ degrees. As far as the bullet is concerned, there is no such thing as the top or bottom of a barrel to it will exit the barrel just as if it was upright.
The only thing I can see being slightly different is the height of the sights over bore but that should be really close. -

The Kentucky windage will be really Hard to do 45* Mount or I should say I found it hard to do at first. Keep that in mind and put allot of practice in Using those sights transitioning to different ranges and you should be fine.I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,
Nearly reach the skyComment

If you are going to run a 45* setup tilt the rifle 45* so your sights are straight up. Zero it this way. It gets really messy if you try to shoot at different distances with the sights at 45*. Not only will your drop be off but your windage will get all f-ed up. The father you got out the more your bullet will push to the right. Just tilt your rifle so the sights are straight up, trust me.Comment

Recently set my lightweight AR build with a Primary Arms mini dot mounted on a angle mount. Searched the net with the same question without much success so I decided to set the rifle up on bags with the scope in the normal 12 o'clock position and sight it in as usual. This technique worked for me. Head position is critical. It's a bit awkward during sight in because my head position is NTCH. This optic supplements my ACOG so it's set for shots 25 yards and in.Comment

^ interesting. Although I won't be running irons. With putting a scope on the top rail it covers the irons.Comment
