    Magpul Mbus on M&P15OR?

Hey cal gunners, I've done some searching but figured I'd now just ask. I recently bought a M&P15 OR. I paid way to much jumping on the first one I found but I'm happy to finally own an AR. Well it's actually still in it's 10 day jail period. Being I spent most of my budget on the rifle itself I need to get some sights on it so i can actually start to use it. A buddy of mine has a set of Magpul Mbus sights he was offering me. Google-fu proved that Mbus sights aren't recommended on gas blocks to to heat causing them to melt or warp. So I was wondering how true this is? Abit of searching on here has had mixed replies and reviews. My plan for the rifle is to eventually mall ninja it out as it's main purpose will be putting holes in paper at the range and sometimes doing carbine courses.
For now the rifle won't be cycling hundreds of rounds. I would however like some cheap decent sights to sight in the rifle atleast and have some way of aiming it as the OR has no sights.

Also if you happen to own an M&P 15 I'd love to see pics of it in this post so I can get ideas of what to do with mine!

    Thanks!

Unless you are dumping 30rd mags it is not that likely to melt.

My S&W M&P15T came with MBUS sights. With the quad rail allowing so much air flow over the barrel I've never had a problem with any of the sights melting. On my other AR that has the fixed front post I did put a Matech rear BUIS sight on it which I really like. Here are some pics of my M&P15T with the front MBUS.

Get the mbus sight. Put it on your gas block. You will probably be fine. Unless you are seriously mag dumping you won't generate that kind of heat.

I have the same model as you and I run mbus on the gas block. No issues.
