    AR finished; need scope help.

I Just finished my second AR build, I went a little overboard on this one compared to my first one, simple M4 clone. I've never owned a scope and want to buy a scope that will do this rifle justice. I have 1,000-1,200 to spend on a scope. Could you guys help me out? This is what I have on this rifle:

    Lower:
    PSA lower
    PSA parts kit
Ergo tactical deluxe grip with palm shelf
    Magpul PRS stock
    Stag buffer kit
    Geissele DMR trigger
    Magpul enhanced aluminum trigger guard

    Upper:

What distance are you looking at.
There are some nice scopes 18x for $600 or less
      Nice build
What brand is the bipod setup.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

I have 1,000-1,200 to spend on a scope.
You can easily spend half that and probably never know the difference. Get a "mid level" scope like Nikon or Vortex and spend the rest of your money on ammo. At current ammo prices, you'll need it.

I'd go with a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50mm. They're about $700 and you get a lot of features for your money.

For what is essentially an SPR build, I'd suggest something with mid range magnification with FFP reticle. For my own SPR, I went with a Bushnell 3-12X44 FFP with mil based G2DMR reticle. FWIW, this scope has been outstanding out to the 650 yards that I have shot with it. The mil based reticle in this scope will allow for holdovers without dialing the scope out to around 850-900 yards with 75/77 grain ammo loaded to 5.56 specs.

Another one worth looking into would be the new Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10X32 FFP. While the reticle design is not as intuitive for holds as the G2DMR in the Bushnell, the Vortex scope is about 6 ounces lighter (18oz vs 24oz) and also has an illuminted reticle (If that kind of thing floats your boat).

Both scopes go for around $800-$900, although the Vortex is not yet available. Everything I've read says it should be out within a few months.
