Feeding Issue on my new AR

I just put together my new AR and I noticed that the bullets are being scratched on the locking lugs every time it feeds. I've never owned an AR before, is this typical?

Bullets getting scratched a little on the feedramp is normal.

If the scratching is heavy enough will it adversely affect the flight path of the bullet?

Sometimes, if the follower in the mag is a bit tilted, the rounds could get serious scratches or even dents around the shoulder area (on the case). This is caused by the bolt not being able to chamber a round. Look into getting a self aligning follower from Magpul for your mags. I think bushmaster mags come with these. They're Great!!!

Try different mag, make sure there are no obstrctions and run a function check. Make sure the carrier is lubed.

Have Magpul followers in all my mags, all seem to preform about the same. There doesn't appear to be any damage on the casings, just the bullets themselves.

After getting home and taking another look the scratches do seem kinda superficial, but I'll let you guys be the judge.

The upper is a Larue Stealth with a 16" Recon barrel put together by Denny at GTS.

This is normal with NEW AR's.
Go shoot it 500 rounds and report back.
