Anyone pinch the rear of the trigger guard to pull the trigger?

I was shooting my savage 10 wood stock yesterday, at a bench, but with a sling, so the rifle was tight in to my shoulder without the use of my right hand on the stock. When I was ready to shoot, I just put my thumb against the back of the trigger guard and pinched the trigger. It may just be that the stock doesn't fit me perfectly, but this seemed like a good way to hold the gun in a very relaxed manner, and pull the trigger without disturbing anything. And my groups were better than usual yesterday. Anyone else do this?

Jeff Cooper talks about this method in "The Art of the Rifle". He said it especially useful on a heavy, crappy trigger.

I have a light trigger, but in order to hold the stock with my right hand the way it's supposed to be done, i have to move my arm in to a less comfortable position. By pinching the trigger guard, i can leave my right arm laying on the bench.

I think some of the bench shooters shoot like it.

That is how I shoot my heavyguns. You can push on the trigger guard to push the gun back against the front stop very quickly that way.

I'm not a chrome-lover, but that is a kick *** rifle. Looks like it came from the world of Tron.
