Anyone going to the match tomorrow? I have never been there and was wondering the best way to get there from Upland. Would it be better to go 210/5/14 or around back 15/138/14? Is it trucks only? Will my Honda SI make it. How long will it take at 4:30 on a Sunday Morning.

Been there a few times before, it is truck/SUV only road. It may be physically possible to get a car back there, but there is absolutely no reason to do it (very high chance of screwing your car up). -
Use the 15/138/14 route - as far as the rod in - unless they've improved it alot in the past two years I wouldn't risk it in a Honda. Its on the same par if not worse than the road back into WEGC.I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

Wow. Doesn't sound like a place for a lowered SI. What about a stock Honda Accord. Would it be a problem. The wife has my truck this weekend up North. I just dont want to trash her car either. Dont mind the dirt but dont want any other problems.Never return fire!

It is an extremely rocky road with a lot of large, hard bumps. So if you don't plan your lines just perfectly in an Accord, you're going to scrape the underside of the car. I just don't see it as being safely possible. The other option is to drive there, wait at the gate, and hop a ride with someone going to the same match who's driving an appropriate vehicle.
I honestly would not risk it in an Accord. I do not think you would be able to do it without damaging the car.
It's a long road.Comment

I've not been there in about two years but if I recall there used to be a few people take their cars back in there. It is rough though and rocky or was. Can't guarantee your oil pan or tranny would fair well.I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

If you want to shoot a rifle match, the 3x600 at Camp Pendleton is tomorrow. No truck required.
This is a Non-Federal Entity. It is not part of the Department of Defense or any of its components and it has no governmental status.
Just get to Wilcox Range 103 around 0700 to check-in/register.
You can shoot in the traditional NRA mid-range prone format or F-Class (bipod).

I'll be there tomorrow, you can get a standard Honda in there, I've driven mine back there more then a few times. I wouldn't take a lowered one though, I did hear that they graded the road recently.
See you there, be at the gate early (7 AM) as I heard they don't want to wait to start shooting. I just hope I can get a spot as I'll be a walk on/in due to my work schedule.50 BMG Shooters http://50-bmg.com/forum/index.phpComment

Well, made it there and back in my Honda w/o any problems. Heck, even Butthead made it there in his Accord w/o any problems so I guess two Honda's are better then 99% of the trucks driving the roads here in SoCal.
And after all that the weather blew us out, wind, rain, snow and hail all in about 30 mins. The crazy part was seeing one of the target frames snap in half from the wind and another fell apart from the pounding it got from the wind. Oh well, guess we'll have to wait until June for the next match.Last edited by 50 Shooter; 03-30-2008, 2:10 PM.50 BMG Shooters http://50-bmg.com/forum/index.phpComment
