    AK Rear Sight Removal

Ayone wanna tell me the secret to removing the rear sight on an AK. I am assuming that you must depress the paddle like spring and drop the two pins down and twist the sight out, but Im having a hell of a time depressing the spring.

    Little help?

    You have to smack it.
I use a non-mar hammer, but a carefully placed block of wood and a regular hammer works, too.
I've known daredevils and I ain't got nothing against them.....its just they're all dead.

The easiest way is use a drill press to depress the spring. This might help.

Watch the first few seconds of this video. It is extremely simple once you see how to do it.

            ak sight tool

Power custom make a tool that makes it easy to remove the rear sight without having to use a sledge hammer, drill or explosives. I believe it costs $20 and Midway also sells it. thnx

Pff, I removed mine with my bare hands. Put the new one in with a punch to push down better, though.

I like the drill press idea!
