Does this barrel ext. look normal?

    Hey all,

After going to the range with my friend today we were cleaning up our gear at my place and he asked me if the star chamber/barrel ext. on his AR looked right. I honestly wasn't sure what to tell him since my BCM was black... and after much use fairly shiny-ish as if it were polished. His on the other hand pictured below seemed pretty fouled if that is the correct term. He said it shoots fine, no issues etc. Is this even something to be concerned with?

The chamber is "in the white"... it's fine.

Looks good to me. What barrel is he running? BCM is chrome lined so it would have more of a polished look than chrome moly

Just asked and he is saying BCM as well. That picture was taken after a cleaning.

I would say it still looks fine. If anything it looks like it wasn't cleaned from the last time it was shot and is stained a bit. I had this problem with my shotgun (remington 1187) I completely spaced cleaning it and a few months later it took me hours of scrubbing to get it back to the shine it used to be. I wouldn't hesitate to run that AR

Yeah I guessed it was just because there was a lapse in cleaning and said it likely isn't an issue at all. Other than scrubbing the living crap out of it would polishing be the only way for him to remove that staining? If it were on my rifle I would let my OCD kick in on it.
