    NEWB BCG question

    Hello all,

While search for a AR-15 .223/5.56 BCG I have noticed that some come with hammers and some do not. Why is this? I thought all hammers were technically the same dimensions, am I wrong?

Don't worry about it. It's just a matter of packaging and marketing.

OP not sure what you are referring to. The BCG (bolt carrier group) is just that, a bolt and a carrier. Hammers are part of a LPK (lower parts kit). If you are asking if hammers are a standard size - yes, as long as they are mil spec. Or, are you referring to a charging handle?

BCG that comes with hammers are usually some fancy slick space age finish... idea is that the rubbing of the carrier & hammer is lessened cause both are coated with this stuff.

IMHO... marketing hype. Well grease d BCG goes a long way.

Ah, now his question makes sense. I don't recall seeing a hammer with a BCG before.
