    Question for a newbie

    Hello all,

I have a friend who is gonna sell his AR15(10? read below). He gave me first dibs before he put it up for auction.

    Here are the stats:

    Upper and lower: PSA, 5.56/.223
    Bolt / Bolt Carrier: RR
Trigger: RR, not sure which type
Barrel: Kies nano-ceramic 7.62X39 (yup, this is correct)
Hand guard: Std Magpul (nothing special)
Top rail: Sorry didn't take note of manufacture, but nothing out of control.

He's looking for 2500, sound too expensive?

      Thanks.

As an investor, I know buying in a bubble is never a good idea. My background in ARs is limited to my years as a Marine, so the specifics / economy of this one, I was just not sure. But my hunch was as you described, thanks.

Just got off the phone, he thanked me for the call, then sold it ... now.

^^^ You can build one yourself for $1500 or just wait and something cheaper will come along. Also invest in a lower go to local gun stores and try to buy one. Building an Ar is not that hard everyone here can help and YouTube is a great tool as well.

Yea, more or less a friend of a friend. He offered as I was in search of a 7.62 (AR10) type rifle.

Spent 12 years in the Corps, used to be able to take it apart and put together blindfolded I'm in search of a lower now.

Question, are there just a few manufacturers of lowers? Seems like many of the "Named" brands use the same lower.

I agree with the $1500, once this bubble is over. Think I'll just wait it out. I did find a NIB DoubleStar at a local dealer for $1400, picked it up. I know, I know a little higher than just a couple months ago, but I don't mind supporting a local dealer.

              Thanks

Edit: I understand field stripping / cleaning an M16 is different than building one from parts online.

If you wanted an 7.62mm AR10, that was not the rifle you wanted.

His is chambered in 7.62x39mm, which is the standard SKS/AK round, and is an AR15 platform.

It is NOT a 7.62mm NATO/.308 that would be used in the AR10.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

1400 for a double star? you should've waited the frenzy out--they were going for ~$700 before the panic.

Wow. Yeah, can't believe your "friend" would try to take advantage of you by selling at this price
