If your dad is in Cali I don't think so. As of right now you or he is in possession of a unregistered assault weapon. According to the DOJ officer that visited me a assault weapon must be sold out of state or turned in to be destroyed once the original no longer wants the firearm or is deceased.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
    I'm Back.

If that rifle is in California, you and your dad commited/are commiting felonies. Shut up, and have a mod delete this thread.

Do not inform the DOJ that you have it. It's too late to register a Listed Banned Lower in CA. Installing a Bullet Button, and 10 Round Magazine will not change anything on a Banned Receiver. It's considered to be an assault weapon no matter what you do to it. Remove the Lower Receiver and sell in legally to someone in a Ban State who can legally own/build a Pre-Ban Lower. Last time I looked, stripped Pre-Ban Lowers were going for $800-$1000 in Pre-Ban States like NY and NJ.

Rebuild the gun with a OLL.
