    Iron Clad Armory AK?

I tried searching the forum but it didn't turn much up. Has anyone gotten an AK by Iron Clad Armory and are they decent? Atlantic has a bunch of models by them.

I'm trying to help my father shop for an AK. We're looking mainly in the "Better than a WASR not quite as expensive as an Arsenal" category, roughly $600-800. He likes the look (and price) of the stamped receiver 7.62 polymer furniture AK by Iron Clad Armory, which is listed at $769. He's also looking at Waffen Works and Interarms, but is mainly seeing those in 5.45 (he'd prefer 7.62).

Anyone know of any other brands he should consider?

I know a ton of folks will say this, and I did it. What about a Saiga then convert it? Is that an option for your father?
Availibility will play a major roll, I know. I bought my Saiga a couple years back for $400, and put about $120 in parts and did the work in my garage(it is not hard and you only need simple tools), no drill press required!

+1 on saiga build. Only problem with gun shopping now is to find anything in stock. I would buy what you can or study up on saigas for the next few months while things cool down.

I ordered an iron clad AK47 about a day after things went crazy. It just shipped to my dealer yesterday and I started the dros.

Unfortunately I could only finger it in the shop and have not shot it yet. But the quality looks great! I got the one with red wood furniture. It was around $850.

I couldn't find a ton of research either. Overall it's American made, chrome lined barrel and they (Atlantic arms) are helpful shipping to CA.

I asked my FFL what he knew about Iron Clad and he said "just another rich guy whose making guns now". Hahah. I only take guesses in what thy means....

P.s. I did not order the milled one

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm glad I got at least one useful response.

I'm not new to AKs. If it were me, I'd probably consider converting a Saiga. But this rifle isn't for me, it's for someone with a busy schedule for whom shooting isn't their main hobby. Building one...

I've read about Ironclad over at AKfiles once I saw that they were in stock at Atlantic. You can read some of the owner's posts. Really cool guy with a great attitude. I'm hoping to own an Ironclad rifle in the future:

I have a WASR-2 I'm quite fond of, so don't get me wrong, I'm not "WASR prejudiced". But most WASRs I've seen lately are way over-priced for what they are. It's not that much of a price jump to go with Iron Clad or Waffen Works, which is why I'm asking.

Heck, right now Iron Clad rifles are cheaper than WASR's! (Gunbroker)

Agreed, I have been looking into Waffen Works as well. I have yet to find anything bad about the Waffen AK's.
