Any NorCal FFLs that will accept a non-compliant AR?

I'm looking to pick up an AR out of state and I'm wondering if there are any FFL's within 100miles of the Bay Area that will accept a non-compliant AR from a private party and install a bullet button prior to me taking possession?

From what I understand, my other option is to have them ship only the completed lower to the FFL and the upper and broken down 30rd mags to me directly. I'd still rather go with an FFL accepting the entire complete rifle if one nearby is willing.

    Thanks.

This law is basically on the honor system in 2017 and CA has no honor so CA can go F itself. --Nodaedul

Call Tracy Rifle and Pistol. Sounds like something they might accommodate for you.

River City Gun Exchange has an assault weapons permit you could ask them in sac. Not sure if they use it for more than LEO sales and doing their own BB installs tho... In fact they probably import with BBs installed.

It maybe easier to ship just the lower receiver from originator by removing pistol grip if original seller can do that. Installing a bullet button is pretty easy, or even the easier the Raddlock button.

Not sure now what policy is now, but City Arms 2 years transferred my friend's CETME in 2 pieces, he later got the solar tactical grip after 10 day wait.

This was 2 years ago but you can call them up. I bought a PSL that needed a custom bullet button fabricated and PRK in Fresno had the rifle shipped there then installed the bullet button before I picked up. So a similar situation to you. There might be somewhere closer to the bay but give PRK a call.

Call Sacramento Black Rifle, I think they have a special license.

Thanks all, I'll give all suggested places a call tomorrow.

If none of these places are willing to take it in a non-compliant state and I'm able to convince the seller to ship just the lower to the FFL, do I need to have him remove the mag release and/or the pistol grip?

A complete lower assembly is legal with a pistol grip and collapsing stock, and no magazine lock.
