    Newbee AR15 build

First let me say I don't much about black rifles, but I want to learn as i go as i am sure most have.

A week or so ago I started looking into getting a AR15 type rifle (5.56/2.23) but quickly realized most if not all shops are sold out, including lowers. So I found a small gun shop in town most do not know about. Though they had no rifles, lowers or uppers, the owner was willing to take a prepaid back order (6 weeks out?) for two complete CA compliant lowers ($180.00 each) made by New Frontier Armory out of Las Vegas, NV.These lowers are of polymer material I believe.

    Two questions:

Has anyone had experience with New Frontier Armory? If so. good or bad?

Who makes a good upper for a fair price? any input would be appreciated.

IMO the New Frontier polymer lowers are completely good to go. Great value for the money.

I sold a budget "patrol" rifle to a CalGunner recently. We did the PPT at a NorCal gunshop and while we were filling out the paperwork one of the guys that worked there gave it a good look over and went - "wow - that's a really nice rifle!"

Now maybe he was noticing some of the MagPul goodies I put on it but I can guarantee you - the trigger on the NFA lower was better than my S&W MP15. The fit was great on the DelTon upper. You will/may hear a lot from mall Ninja's on this page telling you polymer won't hold up. Tell that to Glock.

          Just my 2 cents.

Oh and - why did I sell that rifle? To pay for another build.

That price seems high for a polymer lower - they were around $100 before everything went into crazy buying mode. I would check around before paying that much for an NFA lower. If you can hold off for a bit I would, hopefully the buying madness will end in a month or so and you will get a much better deal that buying today.

I got my upper from PSA and I am very happy with the quality of their product. Their pricing is good but they are a little slow so you may have to wait about a month before you receive your upper. People here keep buying from them knowing this is the case because their quality is good. There are other good brands that won't break the bank like BCM, PK Firearms, Stag, RRA, etc.

The NFA complete lowers are great, ive got 4 of them. Theyre supposed to cost $99, i wouldnt pay that much for one.

Things will normalize in 6 months

Thanks everyone for your responses, some of the uppers you all mentioned I have looked at. Stag seems to be popular from what I've read on the net. BTW, only reason I jumped on the NFA lowers is because everyone is sold out of other manufactures and would not take back orders. My local shop is one of three, they are the only one's to take a back order

                      Happy New Year to all

The only complete upper they have is a 6.8, they have a couple barrels with the gas system installed and some stripped uppers. They do still have a couple complete LMT's a couple armalite's and a FN scar

I'm the cgner that bought his NFA. I put a "few" down range yesterday, and it ran perfect. A couple friends that are very knowledgeable in the AR, shot it and "inspected" it. They were both impressed.

                              Thanks again Drriveda.
