Transporting AK Parts

I'm currently in Utah, visiting relatives, and was planning to pick up some ammo while here. I'm also in the market for an AK-47; I know I can't buy one here unless I get a friend or bro-in-law to do it, but can I buy a kit? If so, what should I be looking for when choosing one?

Parts are just that, parts. Unless there is an auto sear in the kit... Then you have a machine gun by some flawed logic. I don't know anything about AKs other than I waited too long to do my first build and now nothing is available.
