M&P 15 Sport selling for more than M&P 15 OR

Due to the possible ban of assault style rifles people are paying outrageous prices for AR 15s.
I have been paying a lot of attention to sales on gunbroker.com and for some reason I have been seeing M&P 15 Sports selling for as much as $1800 while the M&P 15 OR has been selling for $1500. So what is the deal? The M&P 15 Sport can be had for $600-$700 while the M&P 15 OR usually retails for $900 -$1000. Are people thinking that the title of "Sport" will make it an exception to the possible assault rifle ban?

No idea why people are paying more for the sport.

They are probably new firearm owner who wants to have an AR-15 before a the feinsteins banned it. They dont know the difference between model and the prices before CT Shooting.

OP, we've all been looking at GB because it's just so out of hand. A Noveske stripped lower going for $800, one stripped lower! Stag stripped lower, exact same thing without the Noveske "Swoosh" on it, goes for $450 or something nuts. There is no rhyme or reason to it, just madness and nothing has even been proposed except for the typical political rhetoric.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks & corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Making a purchase using research & logic goes out the window during hoarding & panic buying.

There are reasonable priced AR's and receivers for sale, you just have to look. There are people and places selling them that are outside of the big cities.

I think the OP is asking why the cheaper M&P Sport is selling for more than it's M&P ORC big brother. I honestly hadn't noticed that trend, but it could be happening. More than likely there are more Sport's being sold right now and maybe the buyers do think that the "Sport" title will save them. Who knows?

The M&P 15 OR is not necessarily better than the M&P Sport, despite the higher retail price... Some would argue the Sport is better. It has a 1:8 twist barrel with 5R rifling and Melonite treatment (vs 1:9 with 6R rifling and chrome lining). Personally I like the barrel and finish on the Sport better.... Perhaps this is contributing to the higher prices currently seen on the Sport?

Gunbroker is one thing but look at the marketplace here. I'm pretty stoked to see folks selling stuff at reasonable prices.
