    Scope for 17 Hornet

Hey guys I was given a savage 17 hornet for christmas and am wondering if anyone has this caliber rifle and what scope/rings you are using. If you don't what would you guys recommend. I am looking to shoot squirrels out to 250-300 yds.
I am willing to spend $350 or so on a scope.
    Thanks

I would look at a Nikon Buckmaster or Prostaff. I have a Prostaff on my 10/22 and it is great. It has taken a beating and still is dead on.

This would be a great scope:

I shoot it quite a bit. It works great on ground squirrels, rabbits, and general small varmints. I have not shot anything bigger than a raccoon with it, but it worked well. Mine (Ruger 77/17) is very accurate.

Check out Natchez on line, they sell refurbished Nikon and Burris for a very good price. SWFA also has a "demo" section with some deals. $350.00 will buy a good scope for the 17 Hornet. I justed picked up a Redfield Revolution 6 to 18X demo for about $175.00.

I recently purchased a vortex viper scope from cameralandny.com to go on my 20vartarg. Normal retail price on these is $429. However they have purchased on special order about 2,000 of these scopes with the V-Plex reticle and have them priced at $277. This is a great scope (I have three of them) even if you had to pay the going price. It is a 6.5X20x44. I have them on each of my cz 527 (.204, .204 and 20vartarg). I just purchased the savage 17hh in the light walking varvinter and am placing an order for another of these scopes to go on it. If you are looking at shooting ground squirrels out to 300 yards, you will apreciate the 20 power option with this scope. I also have a 17hmr that I started with a 2x7 scope and found that was not enough for the hmr and ground squirrels. I ended up putting a vortex crossfire 4x18x40 on it and am very happy with the results. HOwever, the extra quality of the vortex viper for a few bucks more is WAY worth it. Do not hesitate on this scope as it is a better scope than the redfield and the nikon (I have these too).
