Of those listed, I like the GTS Recon II simply because it's a 1:7 twist and also looks to be profiled at the front to fit an Ops Inc 12th collar. Not sure if the Ops brake is in your plans, but it's nice to have that profile cut already in case you decide to use one in the future.

I like the 1:7 twist on the shorter barrels especially, as they sometimes have trouble generating the velocity needed to quickly stabilize heavier 77 grain HPBT's when using a 1:8. It seems like the 1:8 will still work, but the bullets sometimes take 100-200 yards to fully stabilize, where the 1:7 twist seems to have them stabilized right from the muzzle.

      lolwut?

a 77 SMK already has a Sg of 1.74 with a launch velocity as low as 2500 fps out of an 8 twist barrel.

How much more stability do you really need?

read chapter 10 of Litz's book, the whole thing...

Thank you sir. I don't think I can afford Ops brake/Model 12 SPR suppressor but it's nice to have options. I never shoot bullet below 55gr, just 55/69/75gr.

I guess they are all fair accuracy stainless bbl, but I still want to find a good balance between weight, accuracy and heat dissipation.

I've done the reading, and by the numbers a 1:8 should be more than enough for a 1:7. Problem is, I dont think my 1:8 barrel (Rainier Select/BHW 16") read the same chapter, as it has problems getting a decent group at 100 yards with 77 grain Noslers. It's 200 yard group however, looks pretty much identical to it's 100 yard group at around 1.5 to 2 inches. Once you get to 300yards and beyond, it seems to shoot as well as my other rifles that shoot into 1/2 to 3/4 moa. So despite what the math says, the gun just doesn't want to put the 77's into a stabilized trajectory right out of the gate. Much like the heavy 175 or 190 grain bullets out of a 1:10 308 barrel, they seem to take 100 yards or so to fully stabilize.

Seems like the profile of GTS, is pretty good for all-purpose recon AR.
