Does anyone have a Sabatti Basic Model 92? I realize about $3K isn't cheap for a rifle but it's a bargain for a side by side. I haven't handled one but looking at "real models" on line the wood looks great, bluing excellent and according to their targets pretty well regulated. I'm strongly considering buying one in 45/70 or 9.3 X74R (I reload) and would lime to know if anyone has 1st hand experience with one.

Save your money and buy a Chapuis or better yet keep your eyes open for a British or German double. I see them from $2k on up.
Sabattis are a frustration you don't need. Ask me how I know.Comment

I'd also like to know! ! !
I've been thinking of getting one. I have one those cheap Remington double rifles in 30-06, but have my eye on a Sabatti 45-70.
Plus, they got a great review from GunTests. You get what you get and you don't get upset !Comment

Cabelas customer service is top notch. US Sporting Arms CS sucks.
And saying regulation issues is like saying even though your rifle is missing a barrel it is still good to go.
Regulation on them is spotty at best and do not believe those "regulation" targets. A doubles group is fired right left right left with the hits recorded accordingly on the target. Those targets don't reflect that.
The regulation on Sabattis isn't adjusted via solder and wedge. It is adjusted by reaming the muzzles. This means over time muzzle erosion will result in your "regulation" changing.
After all the problems I had with several the money, time and effort would have been better served on a Kreighoff or Merkel.
Considering a Chapuis 9.3x74r can be found for $4k you're better off with that. You may get lucky and have a Sabatti that isn't reamed at the muzzles and is properly regulated. Or you can buy a Chapuis and KNOW it is properly regulated from the start.Comment

You could fill volumes with what those writers at Gun Tests don't know about the firearms they are reviewing. I have built a double rifle on a shotgun action. It looks like crap and was a pain in the *** but it shot better than two out of three Sabattis and equal to the third. And I didn't ream the muzzles.
I am on my third Sabatti. It's muzzles are reamed. So now I can return it AGAIN or I can have some one cut and recrown the barrels ($200+), make a new regulating wedge ($100+), set back the front sight and solder the ribs ($100+), resolder and regulate the barrels ($600+), reblack the barrels ($100+). Oh and I forgot ammunition which is $80 or more per 20 for my chosen caliber. And the sights may need to be filed and or made anew mo $$$ mo $$$.
Save your money and buy quality. I have seen many British BPEs sell for far less than a Sabatti and light caliber (9.3x74 and under) German guns go for equal or lesser money.
Not trying to pee in your cereal but my experience is the norm with Sabattis not the exception. I am trying to save you aggravation, buyers remorse and heartache.Comment

I'm glad to help. Unfortunately for me I was a BETA tester for the Sabattis, nobody knew anything about them at the time, and I got burned.
What really steams my ***** is I passed up a British 500 BPE selling for $3500 WITH dies for my cursed Sabatti.
Don't be me, it sucks.Comment
