    Caliber marked lower mismatch

    Hello,

    I have two AR-15 lowers.

One is marked 5.56 (not Multi-Cal), the other is marked Multi.

Can I put a different caliber upper on the 5.56 upper? or does this cause a problem for me legally.

I want to mount my Tactical Solutions 22 upper but would prefer to put in on the lower marked 5.56 because of the trigger and stock configuration I already have on the lower.

Sorry about the newby question. I am mainly a bolt action hunting rifle or handgun guy.

Any help is much appreciated. I will also check the AR-15 forums.

    Merry Christmas- James

You can put any upper you want on them.

I just jumped on the bandwaggon, too. I tried not to get the EBR disease, but I tried 3 gun and liked it and I didn't want to wait and possibly miss out on owning one. I might be a bit sick. I bought one on consignment, and am already looking at a number of upgrades to make it more suited for 3 gun.

I found the same answer to running a different caliber, such as 9mm, on a 5.56 lower. I have to ask, what is the point of a lower being marked in a caliber vs. "Multi"? Or, was it setup like our gun laws, and just defies common sense?

Consider the caliber marking decoration only.
