When one buys a long gun, once the DROS process has started, is that particular long gun registered to the buyer (but DROS does not require serial number for long guns)?

DROS for long gun
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
Could it be any clearer? Any law that infringes on our right to keep and bear arms is a violation of the Second Amendment and is unconstitutional.Tags: None -
long guns are not registered."The gun has played a critical role in history...an invention that has been both praised and denounced...served hero and villain alike...and carries with it moral responsibility. To better understand the gun is to better understand history." -
I would imagine so, after all you as a buyer have to verify the serial number when you pick up the weapon, and your name is all over the paperwork. Now, there might not be any "official" registration that goes beyond the FFL or dealer until 2014, but there is a paper-trail...

No S/N, caliber, make, model info goes to Sac until 2014.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

That info has not been collected before for DROS; that starts 2014. (And, since DROS is submitted electronically, it isn't really a 'paper' trail any more, though I guess FFLs keep copies.)ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page

Would there be any issues selling a long gun via PPT to another private party that was originally purchased from a different private party without a PPT? I'm thinking no since there was no original record of serial numbers in the first place, right? this happened before I moved to CALast edited by RiDET4R; 01-06-2013, 7:29 PM.Comment

Except that it isn't wise to talk about transfers 'without benefit of FFL' unless you explain the circumstances - 'this was before 1991' or 'this happened before I moved to CA' - no, no issue.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
