Turners Chinese SKS $259
Tags: None -
Personally, I wanted a nicer SKS than these beater Chinese ones that have been around the past couple of months so I spent $400.00 for a Russian SKS. The Chinese have some historical value and they are good shooters from what I have been hearing but all six I looked at at two Turners were rust buckets.
No bluing, no problem, beat up wood, no problem but lots of rust and pitting in the barrel and all over the receiver, problem for me.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Call me crazy, but I don't trust a toothbrush made in china, let alone something that is supposed to contain an explosion and propel a piece of lead at supersonic speeds.
I would use the same money and buy a used bolt action rifle, or save a bit more and get a Russian SKS.Yes, I am an electrical engineer.
No, I will not fix your computer.Comment

I was at Turners a couple hours after the sale started, and they were completely sold out. The sales guy checked the "warehouse" and there was no more there either.Comment

If you don't want a Chinese SKS and, although Russian SKSs are nice, they are fairly expensive, go with a Yugo. I have two and they're spot-on reliable. I have hundreds and hundreds of rounds through each with zero problems. The one flaw with them, which I learned the hard way, is they aren't chrome-lined so you'll want to clean them immediately after shooting, especially if you used corrosive ammo.Last edited by dandingo13; 12-18-2012, 9:56 AM.Comment

I love my Chinese SKS, but it was free, so kind of hard not to.I need to get the bayonet for it though.

If the metal is sound on the Chinese SKS, it's a great buy. Some I have seen are rust-buckets, but the two I got were very good...only one tiny quarter sized patch of very minor pitting on one of the two (something got under the wood in one spot).
They are better than most other more recently made SKSes because they are all milled metal and solid as a rock, with chrome-lined barrels. I have yet to see a bad barrel on any of them.
The wood can be fixed up easily or replaced cheaply.Originally posted by CSACANNONEERKeep in mind that you don't have a clue.Comment
