True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.
Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

uh,
ive never staked any of my AR castle nuts, ive never even used blue loctite on them and yet none have ever come loose. not even remotely. i go through 2-300 rounds per session. what gives?
do you think perhaps the problem is your not torqing it on enough? if you stake it, wtf happens when you need to remove the stock? then you have to hammer another dent in it after tearing the other one off?Last edited by Ballistic043; 03-06-2008, 12:26 PM.Comment

You don't shoot enough.
It will come loose eventually.
Replace the barrel nut and end-plate.
It's only like $5.Randall Rausch

Duct Tape. . . . . .Hi,
How do you tighten the castle nut on a collapsible stock without the special tool (spanner wrench?)? just wondering how some of you managed to do that because my castle nut keeps coming loose, albeit I'm only 'hand' tightening it as much as I can. Thanks for your tips.Originally posted by Soldier415I am naked except for seatless white chaps, a boonie hat and a tactical vest playing HALO.Originally posted by oaklanderI don't like getting my butt kicked, but I would like to have it spanked by some big hairy guys!Originally posted by ohsmilyI wouldn't put "mounting a weasel" past too many people on this forum.Originally posted by hoffmangGoing after the NFA soon is like asking the girl you just met in the bar if she's into anal sex...

I wish I'd thought of staking it before I took a pipe wrench to mine.
Oh well it's a gun not a classic car, as long as it goes bang when I pull the trigger I can live with it looking like some idiot put it together...Comment

i even have the same stock on my shotgun, and even the recoil from that thing wont turn the nut loose.
guess im just luckyLast edited by Ballistic043; 03-08-2008, 11:38 AM.Comment

Did you jack the nut or the tube? A new nut is about $5.

Yes the BLUE locktite works great. Mine was coming loose everytime I went shooting. I put a little Blue locktie on it and tightened it with Channel locks, with a rag so I wouldn't scratch it up and it hasn't come loose since.Comment
