    Company Christmas Shoot Comp. Suggestions?

Was looking for some suggestions for a shooting competition for all the guys at the shop for an EXTRA (everyone gets a bonus regardless) Christmas bonus (there are 5 of us and I dont get to win). Every year at the shop, I take the guys out for breakfast and for some kind of fun competition on Christmas Eve or Friday before, last year we went to an indoor kart track for a little friendly wager .

Since we are all shooters, yet of all skill levels, I wanted to have a little shoot off that was competitive but didn't leave one guy the ringer for the extra envelope.

I was thinking of a HORSE type game using our rifles that was fair for the unskilled guys yet tough for the skilled shooters.

I was thinking of putting all of the letters of everyone's names on a single grid target, everyone gets two shots in rotation, and the first to have their name spelled, wins the envelope ($200 is the prize this year).

Is this a good game or is there a better shooting game for all skill levels? I figured the ones with long names would need a handicap of some type to keep it fair but it seemed like it would be fun considering an errant shot could help someone else or vice versa.

    Love to hear any suggestions.

No particular ideas for you, MattyB, but I wish this was something we were doing where I work! Instead all I get is a holiday lunch with "secret Santa" gift exchange...

You could always go a skeet/trap/sporting clays shoot. That's always fun and the rules are already in place so you don't have to make up a game.

That's awesome man, you sound like a cool guy to work for. What is it you do, just out of curiousity?

What about a game of "Shooter's Poker"? Put up a deck of cards on the target and everybody takes turns shooting cards to make a hand of poker.

I'd add distance as a factor.

Playing Card Targets they sellem so you don't have to waste playing cards. Distance is set to how many times they get to shoot. Close, Middle, Far. Close 5 shots Middle 6 shots Far 7 shots.

Shooters Poker is def fun... sporting clays is another good suggestion.

Are you having the guys bring their own guns? What do most guys shoot? Indoor or out?

If it is indoor, .22's playing the "circles of death" game is pretty fun. Me and a couple buddies do it, and it really makes for a challenge even for experienced shooters.

You mean I didn't just make this up?!

Guess I won't be getting rich off this idea.

You can still be rich... not sure if just a playing card target will be the retirement idea.

Maybe if you make a tannerite target that explodes when you have the winning hand.. that could be a winning idea.

Thanks guys, I own a Automotive Electrical repair shop in Rancho Cordova. I figure that it makes everyone feel appreciated for their hard work and its fun to go play instead of freeze while working on cars.

I think we shall try the Poker idea. We are gonna shoot outside (weather permitting) with our AR's and one Garand, the eldest of the groups favorite rifle.

I think dealers choice for games will keep it competitive although 7 card stud could get pretty tedious in a shooting match.

If weather doesn't hold or its uncomfortably cold to have fun, Im gonna take everyone to the Gun Range and we can do some pistol shooting.

Appreciate the ideas and the nice words, everyone have a Merry Christmas!
