^^^ When I need to hide guns for confiscation....

I really dont think I'm going to sink it in salt water for 2 years.

That is completely irrelevant to me. To the point of absurdity.

Simple fact is. The most accurate shooters are using stainless barrels. Normally without some fancy gimmick coating "as seen on TV".

    What does this tell you?

There are some coatings, including chromoly that will extend the life of a barrel. Serious shooters generally all use aftermarket match grade stainless with no gimmick coating, and certainly not chromoly.

AMU. Army Marksmanship Unit. Competes with straight stainless barrels. So do pretty much *ANY* record holder in *ANY* competition.....

... but "Order now and we'll **DOUBLE THE OFFER!!!!** OUR NEW WHIZBANG THINGAMAJIG SUPERFANCYPANTS COATING is **BETTER** than what ***REAL WINNERS USE!!!!***

Chromoly is not a coating. It's a type of steel. And the reason most custom tubes are stainless steel is because it's easier to machine precisely than Chromoly steel.

        this.

and take it easy its just data... i do not even remotely imply that we should all buy melonite treated barrels so we can hide stuff in the ocean or a lake for a year or two or b/c coating are more accurate than stainless all the time. i think anyone with enough common sense to have not killed themselves using their guns by now realizes the test is absurd but again, it is data, so i put it up.

that and if you took a minute to read, you would realize it isn't a coating per se, it is a process that allows for small imperfections at the surface level to be filled in with carbon and nitrogen via deposition by a hot salt bath.

          1:7 chrome lined.

1:7 can shoot 55-77's no problem.
Chrome lined, cause sometimes I'm too lazy to clean the barrels.
I also dont like to shoot groups for fun . I think its a waste of ammo. Unless its for a precision rifle.
