    As mentioned, the .375 H&H is a great caliber for Africa, maybe evern the favorite for bigger game all around. But not something you'd want to shoot all the time. You'll see stainless versions in Alaska for bear, but generally not too often in North America.

      If you want to experiment with a big bore on a budget Simpsons Limited has a fair number of Husqvarna Mausers in stock right now in 9.3x57 and 9.3x62. They both seem like good cartridges if you reload, the ballistics are pretty solid and the factory loading of the .366 caliber bullets are 276 grains I believe. not to mention the rifles only go for $325-$450 and they are C&R eligible.
      Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.
