i have a vulcan lower on my AR pistol, price was pretty cheap. i have not noticed anything wrong with it, it detaches mags perfectly and the takedown pins fit fine just needed a little lube. i fired 20 rounds through it with no issues.

as long as the upper is a quality brand what does the lower matter anyways? the LPK isnt vulcan either, its basically just a shell and the only issues are the magazine release and the breakdown pins.

at least i have a stag and an LMT lower for backup...

It happens to their aluminum lowers as well.

You're right that the brand of lower shouldn't matter. Except that Vulcan/Blackthorne/Hesse have consistently gone out of their way over the years to prove that even a part that doesn't require the utmost scrutiny can indeed be garbage.

^yikes that pic is pretty concerning. how do you find out if the lower was made from aluminum or polymer? it looks and feels exactlylike my stag and LMT lowers i had no reason to think they are made with anything else.

guess i might have to take advantage of the panic buy and dump her for a profit.

Polymer is plastic, you'd definitely be aware of the difference if you had another lower to compare it to.

That being said, both aluminum and polymer lowers made by Vulcan/Hesse/Blackthorne(they're all the same company) have problems.

I have a heesse/vulcan ar10 and it functions fine. I have a 24" bull barrel on it and it shoots to 600 yards. Took some honing on sear/trigger and bolt to function smoothly with crisp trigger pull. Guess I got lucky with mine according to all the people who never owned one who badmouth them.

                        Wow! Guess I got lucky...

My Vulcan lower runs just fine; it's built with a Model 1 Sales upper and is very accurate!

Lol I bought a blackthorne kit a while back. Bad packaging, the upper looked like it was painted not anodized, the LPK needed a LOT of filing to make it work. When I first put it together the trigger wouldn't even move to release the hammer. The trigger parts were so out of spec it was sad. Got all that working. The headspace was all out of whack too. Oh yeah while I was trying to figure out the head spacing problem it ended up they sent a BCG for a 6.8 not 5.56 as I ordered.Trying to get the guy to make the order right was literally pulling teeth. Ended up fixing it and selling the whole kit I built on a FAB 10 lower to a buddy. It's a good rifle now after all the work done to it. I never bought from blackthorne again. There are better companies with better products that will stand behind them and help you. Tht was when I was first getting into ARs and didn't know jack crap. Hopefully yours isn't like mine

Because there aren't enough people that have owned their products badmouthing them?

                                Aka Blackthorne or Hesse

Even a crap company once in a while misses and puts out a good one. For the money I spent fixing mine I could of just bought one from another dealer and saved myself not only headache and frustration but money also. Sounds like you got a good one. My experience was opposite and so a lot more people in the dissatisfied side than satisfied. I didn't know any better at the time
