    SPS tactical question.

I have a new in box SPS tactical .308 that I saved as a project rifle. It's been sitting in a box for 2 years. I took it out recently and I took the bolt out to look at the rifling and I got a black smudge on my hand? I'm not sure if it's carbon or not. Do they( Remington) test fire the rifles before leaving the factory?

    Yes.
The black smudge could also be preservative oil.
