    Assembly Problem

I just build my stag up and everything went good, took it to the range today and had a horrible time. (Gun is gorgeous btw) The spring in my collapsable stock kept pushing out and not letting me split the upper and lower to reload ( damn this state). So I take the damn spring out and the bolt assemble goes too far back, did i install the spring wrong? Basically i spent an hour and inland fish and game to only shoot 2 rounds!!!! So i gave up and shot my 1911...

Help me out somebody...Yes I know where the search button is and ive been to ar15.com's assembly page...

    Thanks
    Robert

Did you install your buffer retainer and spring from your lower parts kit, if it got left off what you described will happen.

Is the spring in the correct direction? spring in first and plunger against the buffer retainer.

I was going to say the same thing. Basically, when done, the only thing you should see is the flat of the buffer.

This is from the ARF. Just follow the dashed line starting at Part 13 (buffer).

As for the search button on ARF...

I did a search on Calguns. I admint I had an advantage though because I already knew this thread existed. It's easier to finds things sometimes if you know it is there.

Yea being a new to these thing my self the buttstock came with the spring in backwards (I think it ships better that way) so I started putting it together that way but it became aparent right away that would not work. Though I could see the mistake being made. I looked for a picture and could not find one . You,re diagram is perfect

Interesting, there is no "buffer retainer" and "buffer retainer spring" in this illustration!!

That maid the most sence. If you did not have a buffer retainer it would be pretty hard to even close the upper receiver let alone open it
