    16" with Rifle-Length Gas

Was thinking this would make for a very smooth-running AR. Anyone ever see a barrel of this type? Who carries them?

Addax carries a 16" stainless barrel with rifle gas from Black Hole Weaponry. Haven't had any in stock for a while though.

        Lots of vendors do.

Palmetto State Armory has a few in stock, BCM, and other CalGun Vendors do in the Sales Threads.

Are 14.5" and 16" barrels both considered to be carbine-length?

14.5 is more commonly considered a "carbine" barrel, but most the civilian stuff the 16" are marketed as carbines.

You see a lot of 18" with rifle length gas in 3 gun, not so much outside of it compared to other styles (16/carbine or midlength gas)

Sigh, you really want to argue semantics of the word, look for someone else.

14.5 and 16 barrels are commonly considered carbine barrels for ARs. While that may not be accurate to the definition of the word, it applies in most cases.

But it's Monday. I need a good argument.

I bet you could find a bunch of other people who would argue that a carbine is only a rifle that fires handgun calibers, it is such an ill-defined (or undefined) term.

Regardless, I think we can all agree that the five types of gas systems ARE defined and are:
                        (1) pistol
                        (2) carbine
                        (3) mid-length
                        (4) intermediate
                        (5) rifle

                        Yes?

Now come on boys, get along....

Yeah, that one is new to me too. I didn't know there was anything between rifle and mid-length.
