    Going Featureless AR AK

    Hello All,

I have decided to go featureless on 2 rifles. I have read many posts, but of course want to make sure I am ready to remove the bullet buttons:

The AK 47 WASR: Took pistol grip off, replaced butt stock with pinned TAPCO stock, removed welded on thread protector, screwed on TAPCO slant muzzle brake. (Yes I do have long fingers.)

The AR 15: Took pistol grip off, replaced with Hammerhead, pinned adjustable stock, replaced flash hidder with muzzle brake (screwed on).

I bought both of these rifles as CA legal with bullet buttons 2 to 3 years ago.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

that ak has potential to destroy your knuckle.

    looks good though.

These both appear to be featureless and thus good to go with your standard-cap mags.

However... the AK with no pistol grip would appear to be unusable without somewhere to put your shooting hand. I strongly recommend you get a standard AK grip with a Solar Tactical or similar grip wrap. The weapon will feel much better in your hands.

The AR-15 is GTG just as pictured!

Thanks, I have a hammerhead with an AR adapter ready, but first I wanted to try it without anything.

Seeing those rifles in that condition make me sick to my stomach..... But as Californians we have to do what we have to do...

Put the pistol grip back on that WASR 10 and put on a Solar Tactical kydex grip wrap.

Get the grip wrap for the AK or for both... I've had at least two folks tell me the grip wrap on the ar-15 has slightly better ergonomics than the hammerhead

You will find a set up like this much more functional:

Seeing all these grips makes me more certain in keeping the factory monte carlo stock on my Saiga. Even with the bad trigger, seems better than dealing with that! Kudos to those who train and deal with grips like that.

The Monsterman wooden AK grip was the most "ergo" for me. The safety selector being close to my right hand really helps. I think it's still aesthetically pleasing as well.

                          +1

I tried gripless for a while. Uncomfortable and the finish (such that it is on an AK) develops rust spots from the contact with sweaty hands. Did I mention it's not enjoyable to shoot? The wrap isn't perfect, but it's a big improvement.
