AR- scope with a standard front sight post?

Hey all I'm thinking of getting a Nikon M-223 scope for my carbine length rifle. It has a standard fixed front sight post. How much would this interfere with the scope? The scope is really for my second build, which will have folding sights, but I'll want to use it now.

Oh and how good is a Nikon M-223? Any others in the price range?

    It won't.

The Nikon M-223s are great value. The obvious competitors are the Leupold Mark AR range. They're both really good scopes of similar value, so in the end for many it comes down to brand loyalty.

That said, although I own a couple of Leupolds and a couple of Nikons, when I get my varmint AR I'll probably opt for a M-223. The BDC setup and the LaRue quickmount sold me.

You won't have a problem with the front sight, it will disappear due to the magnification of the scope.

          Ok sweet.
Is there a big difference between the P-223 and M-223?
May put it on my Xmas list, but the 3-9x40 P223 isn't as expensive. I may get the M for myself later.

The M is based on the Monarch. The P on the prostaff. Check this older post.

You will see it on lower power, but it wont be in the way.

I just put a Vortex 1-4X on my AR, and the front post disappears under magnification, and @ 1X it's just sort of a ghost image that doesn't bother me at all.

Here's a Poll thread I made on the subject. (My thread was pertaining to 1-4X scopes)

+1 on Vortex. You won't be disappointed. Great value.

Saw an $849.00 price tag on SWFA site.

I think its way too much scope/cost for a limited range short barrel rifle. To be practical a std. 3x9 DUPLEX reticle scope can be used with three aming points 4 min apart which maps pretty good to the 77grain load for 100/200/300 for 1/4-1/3 the price.

but, you wont have any bling/bragequipment rights on the 50/100 yard line.
