    Tight fit on VLTOR MUR-1A?

I got a VLTOR MUR-1A and am having trouble fitting my AR15Performance barrel. I've used frog lube paste on the barrel extension and inside the receiver, but still need to pound quite a bit to get the barrel partially seated. I don't remember it being that difficult.

I also noticed that with both a CMMG and Mega forged lower, the takedown pins won't easily slide in place. I had to use a rubber mallet to seat and then a punch to remove. After a bunch of times, one will go in, but the other still needs to be pounded in. Hammer and punch is still needed for removal. My Mega and DPMS uppers don't have these issues.

Do I just need to keep working it?

Barrel fitment usually always different denending on parts. Have a Vltor upper with a mega forged lower and it was a perfect fit. No slack whatsoever. Didn't even need the adjustment screw on the lower. For barrel installation, pop that sucker in the freezer for awhile to cool it down, and you can heat the upper I just wouldn't take a flame to it or nothing.

As for the take down pins, how to they feel when pressing them in without the upper installed. If you have to take them out and see how they fit through the lower reciever holes and upper reciever holes. Otherwise just keep working them and I am sure they will loosen up.

The takedown pins work fine with a Mega forged upper and DPMS lo-pro upper. I've actually tried to fit the VLTOR to both a CMMG and the Mega. Both had same issue. I've just been working the takedown pins in with the hammer. Looks like it's rubbing the anodizing off the upper where it hits and it's slowly getting looser.....

Have a build going for a friend of mine with a VLTOR MUR Upper Receiver w/ DD barrel, its tight, but the right amount of tight. Built one for a family member some years back and it was the same. The f/r pin holes are tight was well, but it will get easier over time with use. I personally prefer tighter fitment vs. the sloppy side of specs.

If needed & As stated above, you can throw the barrel in the freezer and then warm up the receiver with a blow dryer. Never had to do this with an AR, but helps on 10/22 builds with oversized barrel shanks/extensions.

Dont think VLTOR is built to spec. Way to tight !!! or should I say, out of alignment

I'm in the midst of a pistol build and have the same issue with the pivot and takedown pins. I can tap them in/out gently, but cant get them with my thumbs yet. I assumed my 80% was slightly off, but now I'm not so sure...

FWIW, mine seems to be very tight just to the rear of the pivot pin on the bottom of the MUR and top of the lower.

I recall my CMMG/Spikes being a little tight at first, but not to this degree. I'm sure it'll break in, but now I'm kinda curious to see if this is a common occurrence
