    AR Magazines for 5.45x39

For those of you with 5.45x39 AR's, what are you using for a 5.45x39 specific magazine? I know that standard AR mags will work somewhat reliably with reduced capacity, but I would rather have dedicated 5.45x39 mags. Riflegear has some ASC metal mags they have modified to 10/30 and I have heard that the Magpul EMAG, which is designed for 5.56 works flawlessly for 5.45x39. Calegalmags has the EMAG in a 10/30.

What are your experiences with either and are there other options?

I never had any issues with ASC mags. I modified them to 10/30 but you have to do some trimming of the mag block that is meant for 5.56 to make it fit and hold 10 rounds.

ASC mag looks very similar to the C-Product mags that I have. So far they all works great. I had 1st Gen P-mag that does not work worth a damn with 5.45x39.

Where did you get these? I haven't been able to find a source.

            Thanks.

              Have a peek here:

I wrote up an initial experience with some ASC mags and PMAGs and was less than impressed with the ASC mags. I shot some more with the PMAGs this last weekend and they were flawless the entire time. I've probably got about 500 rounds through the PMAGs and ~100-150 through the ASC ones.

With so many rave reviews of the ASC mags, I'm really wondering if it's the combination of the upper and the mags. Most of the good ASC reviews I've found (though not all)were with a S&W 5.45 upper. I'm shooting a Spike's (with Spike's lower). Again, the only hiccup for me has been the ASC branded mags (every single time I've used one).

I should not have been researching these uppers right around the election. Now everyone is out of stock on uppers or they only include a 30 round mag with the upper, which means they can't ship it to CA (I even asked Midway to take the mag out of the box and ship without it, but they wouldn't do it).

                Ugh.
