That's only if you want to commit a crime. If you want to shoot legally, there's no options in Oakland.

What's the convinction rate for Oakland murders and crimes in general? LOL

Come to san Benito country, we have literally thousands of acres of BLM land, you come and shoot all day for free. I couldnt find the map, sorry. Search the link I gave you. For just shooting, I would recomend Griswold Hills.

How far is that from San Jose? Also, who do I contact for questions about shooting on the land? Thanks

I was thinking the same thing. I am going to call tomorrow. But I found this:

Contact the Law Enforcement rangers at (831) 630-5000 for specific information regarding guns and ammunition, or send them e-mail.

                Located here: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/holli...gulations.html

I am also in San Jose, and was thinking of taking the drive. I think this would be the closest location for drive time: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/holli...s.html#gothere

I also would like to know. We were thinking it would be nice to find a place way out in the booneys in the desert somewhere to go where there aren't a lot of people.

Is a 1000 yards shooting allowed?

You don't contact anybody. You just go. I'm at Griswold Hills pretty much every week. Our local LEO officers are really cool. You park, walk, set up targets and shoot. Also, San jose is about a 45 minute drive from Hollister. Anyway. Want to meet up? Me and some friends are planning on going out this Saturday. We could show you the Country and a few good shooting spots.

That all depends on how far you are willing to hike!

Google maps says 2 hours to the Panoche Hills location.

I would like to check out the locations on Sat, but the rain is supposed to be crazy. Still planning an outing in that weather?

Edit: Also, where is Griswold Hills? It doesn't appear part of BLM. Or is it? Link?
