DPMS Oracle muzzle device - legal in Calif?

I see DPMS Oracles and Oracle uppers for sale. But according to Midway and the manufacturer's site, it has a flash hider...

The device looks like a birdcage, with no openings on the bottom side. I need to know before I purchase one.

It appears to have a regular old A2 Birdcage Flash Hider. (Most A2 style flash hiders do not have openings on the bottom to prevent kicking up dust when prone)

Yes it is a flash hider or as CA calls it a "flash suppressor"
Does that mean the A2 FH is illegal by its self?
No.

You can have a "flash suppressor" on a fixed magazine rifle. (Magazine locked)

You can not have a "flash suppressor" on a featureless rifle.

12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.
(2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

It just simply screws off and can be changed anyways...

You can always remove the flash hider and get a muzzle break/compensator too.

Flash hiders aren't illegal to own. Just order the upper if you like it and replace the flash hider.

So just checking you do understand how to legally configure a semiautomatic center fire rifle in CA right?

In other words you are going to either have a magazine lock on your rifle or have no features at all on your rifle right?

Yes, thank you. I followed the chart and am good to go. What threw me off was the various topics about muzzle brakes & flash hiders. I have a bullet button on my lower and 10 round mag. I was not sure if the muzzle device was a separate issue, whether or not I had a BB.

The chart that showed the muzzle device for the DPMS oracle said it was NO-GO .
