I know the most common benefit of building a AR15 lower is being able to make it a AR pistol with out the NFA tax issues etc. But how about the AR10? Any benefits of building your own AR10?

Well, if you do an AR-10 pistol, then just like the AR-15, you lose a lot of performance with the shorter barrel.

It's legal to do, though. And, the government couldn't come take it as a "banned model" when the new assault weapons ban comes.

In fact, if you make a pistol out of it, and have the standard pistol tube, you could put a rifle length upper on it and switch between it and the pistol upper without any issues. It'd be a "Title 1 Firearm" and not a handgun, but it would still be legal.

So if you did that and made a title 1 or an aow would you then have to make a trust and get your stamp? Unless you made it a pistol
