OP, all brakes are going to be painfully loud from the side of the rifle.

You generally can't hear a difference from BEHIND the rifle.

I do notice my friends dont like to shoot next to me anymore. ;/

A combo device for my para FAL.

A featureless device (long fake fh) on my standard FAL.

So, no brake installed at the moment though I might replace the featureless device with a Moses comp brake (US made clone of the combo device without firing blanks thread) and my para FAL with a PWS DNTC.

Can these be blued? I don't think I'd like a stainless brake on the end of my sps tactical.

Stainless can not be blued or parkerized.
It can be black oxided though.
They can also be painted, but you typically would paint the whole gun so that it all matches.
