    FF Rail Question

OK, I'm new to free-floating rails, so bear with me.

I just finished installing a Troy MRF-C onto my LMT upper. Afterwards, I noticed side-to-side movement (approximately 1/8") in relation to the upper. Am I correct in assuming this is normal? Or do I need to re-do and get a better fit?

ETA: LOL, okay, I hit the gym and tightened down the collar. Yeah, it's all good.

it should not be moving. Granted, I haven't installed a Troy before, I installed a YHM on a couple uppers a few years ago, and they are rock solid, as are all other FF tubes I have ever handled...

    something is wrong.

I would think the side to side movement is bad. When I installed a Daniel Defense on a customer's upper the other day, I noticed if I didn't get that barrel nut down tight enough, it would just move side to side until it contacted the gas tube. I would think this is a very bad thing as it might kink your gas tube and that would be bad. I had to take a cushion and put it between a pipe wrench and the rail to tighten it down to the next hole the gas tube could fit through in order to feel really good about it. You don't want that rail to move at all nor make contact with the gas tube. It takes some elbow grease to get it tightened to the right hole.

No, no, I have it all tightened down now. Just a little leary of wrenching down on it at first. . .then I got over it.

Excellence choice, sir. Troy stuff is sooooo cool. I am always dreaming about getting one.

YHM FF tubes are hard to get (factory is sloooow)
Midwest Industries (MI) FF tubes are too heavy
LaRue FF tubes are pretty expensive...........
