Hey guys fairly new to the forum. First post actually. So I have a spike build with 14.5" barrel and iv bout about 1500 rounds through it with never 1 problem. I recently put a new troy trx rail on it and it started short stroking like crazy. Ftf and bolt not locking back on every shot. So I removed the gasblock and repositioned it. Everything seem to be fine. I then put the spikes bugger kit on my gun and everything still seemed fine. I took my gas block off again the other day to tighten my barrel nut and fired 500 rounds today and I had 5 fte. I would fire the gun and would look in the chamber n the bolt would be picking up a new round from the magazine but the empty brass would be right above it in the chamber not allowing the bolt to close. So I'm wondering if my system is over gassed now. It does feel like it has more recoil than it use too. Also just to make sure I changed my buffer spring and buffer out and tried 2 different p mags and it happend 2 more times. Was shooting mostly xm193 and it happend 2 times n the last 200 rounds I used pmc 55 grain 223 and it happend 3 times Also when I tool the gas block off I removed the flash hider and did not re attach a crush washer. I dk if that makes a difference with gases or not just thought I'd mention it. Thanks guys.

Over-gassed means the timing is going to be fast resulting in stripped rims because the brass hasn't shrunk back down yet releasing from the chamber walls. It could also be that the extractor jumps the rim and you get rounds getting stuck from spent brass in the chamber. They've got those little extractor spring o-rings that will help that way. *edit* For the over-gassing itself get an adjustable gas block.Comment

I typed this on my phone at 130am and didn't feel like going back and re reading through it to correct my spelling. I'm not a English teacher ya know. I'll check my extractor when I get home from work. Thanks guys

Little less spam and grammar nazis little more helpfull input would be nice lol.
I'd personally stop taking it apart if I were you why mess with it if it isn't broken because you might break it :<(...Especially if you're leaving parts off of it."Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

lol I make fun of people when they spell things wrong too but I was in a hurry so oh well. I dont know if its just me but im strait up ANAL when it comes to my guns so I keep messing with it and now im paying the price.
My extractor was dirty as crap and had a lot of carbon build up. I cleaned it and decided to replace the gas rings because when I gave it the test of standing the BCG up vertically the bolt would collapse into the carrier. A Guy at a local shop told me that its a "type 3 malfunction" and I guess that means its not over or under gased? and its most likely an extractor issue so hopefully I fixed the problem!
also has anyone ran into problems using the spikes ST-T2 heavy buffer with a 14.5 inch barrel?
thanks again for the help guys! When I need a spell and grammar check for my mid term ill just come and post it here! HA"Ya dude just bought my 67th gun today"......sigpicComment

Correctly gassed (as you put it) guns should drop your brass in a neat pile about 3-4 feet to your 4-o'clock position.
Not a big deal to check.
