The top one is just a 5.56

Wow, that is one looooooooong barrel! I guess long barrels make for a nice velocity with the Grendel though.

My only problem with going for a long range Grendel (or any long range setup for that matter) is that I am a sucker for great glass! And great glass costs a lot of money. I already have $2k into my two ACOGs and you can spend $2k in the blink of an eye on a high quality long range scope! Once you make that jump into quality glass, you just cant go back. Furthermore, I really dont have anywhere to shoot farther than 300 yards where I'm at.....at least not without making a day of it at Sac Valley Shooting Center. That's a bit of a drive for me.

I do love the Grendel cartridge though....

Yeah it's pretty long, its a 24". I might cut a couple inches off later, its and original satern chambered in 6.5.

I have access to 1 1K yard range thats not too far. I really don't care about weight and I wanted max velocity and accuracy so I went big. I know guys are getting awesome results with their 18" grendels though

For optics I'm thinking 14x max and looking to spend $600-$1K
