Looking to step up from .22lr

Well I know the ammo prices are only going to get higher so ammo is somewhat a concern and mainly looking for a bolt action. As for what I want to do with it, I just want to shoot it lol I'm not looking for 1000+ yard range either.

I said it before, and it was echoed again, but get a mossberg mvp or a Savage bolt gun that fits your needs from medium game to target. A Savage TH XP Nikon in 223 would be an awesome start at $500 and being a side shooter. Look them up.
